AI Engineer
Build the assistant that drafts proposals and invoices from a sentence — and make it accurate enough to trust with money.
Velo is looking for an AI Engineer to lead the assistant features inside our workspace. Users can ask Velo to draft a proposal, build an invoice, or answer questions about their business. Your job is to make those features fast, accurate and genuinely useful.
You will own the AI layer end to end: prompts, tool design, evaluation and the product experience around it. Because the output ends up on real invoices, correctness matters more than cleverness — you will build the guardrails and evaluations that keep the assistant honest.
Design and improve tool-calling flows that create and edit quotes, invoices and projects. Build evaluation sets and regression tests for AI features. Improve latency, cost and reliability of model calls. Work with design to make AI output easy to review, edit and undo.
Experience with the Vercel AI SDK. Background in document generation, extraction or finance. Experience with multilingual or voice input.
